Mobile App

What is the mobile app?

Community Hub can be added to your phone's home screen so it works just like a regular app — with its own icon, full-screen view, and push notifications.

This uses a built-in feature of your phone's browser called "Add to Home Screen". It's not a separate download — it simply creates a link to Community Hub that opens in an app style window instead of a browser tab. It's the same secure website, just with a native app feel.

Installing on Android

  1. Open Community Hub in Chrome on your phone.
  2. Log in to your account.
  3. You should see an Install or Add to Home Screen banner. Tap it and confirm.
  4. If no banner appears, tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in Chrome and select Add to Home Screen.

Installing on iPhone / iPad

  1. Open Community Hub in Safari (not Chrome — this only works in Safari on iOS).
  2. Log in to your account.
  3. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).
  4. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  5. Tap Add to confirm.
On iPhone, you must use Safari. Other browsers on iOS don't support installing web apps to the home screen.

Push notifications

Once you've installed the app, you can turn on push notifications to get alerts when there are new forum posts or news in your topics.

  1. Open the app from your home screen (not from the browser).
  2. On your subscription page, you'll see a Push Notifications toggle.
  3. Turn it on. Your phone will ask you to allow notifications — tap Allow.
  4. You can then turn notifications on or off for individual topics using the bell icon.
Push notifications only appear when you've installed the app and opened it from your home screen. You won't see the notification options in a regular browser window.

Staying logged in

When you log in through the app, your session lasts much longer than a regular browser session. You shouldn't need to log in every time you open the app.

Updating the app

The app updates automatically. There's nothing to download or install — you'll always have the latest version when you open it.
